Ladies, this is the last blog post in our series exploring our true identity. We’ve covered a lot of ground over the past 12 weeks! In this post we’ll talk about our being useable by God. To get there, we need to see ourselves the way God does:
FORGIVEN. ACCEPTED. WANTED. CHERISHED. UNDERSTOOD. UNCONDITIONALLY LOVED.
No matter how long it takes us to fully accept these truths, we need to get there. Because God has important things for us to do. Only YOU can be the light for another person at just the moments God has planned for you. Only I can do the things He has in mind for me to do. What we view as chance encounters could be the very encounters God has ordained for us. Wow!
So how do we position ourselves to be useable by God?
We start by becoming fully convinced that we ARE who God says we are. It is vital to our sense of identity that we see ourselves as God does. Achieving our true purposes in life depends on it!
But Am I Really Useable?
Many Christians are convinced that their lives are not good enough for them to be effective witnesses. “I have to get my life together before I tell people about Jesus,” they say.
But there’s a problem with that logic and it’s this: we’ll never get our act completely together. We’ll be waiting forever, if we’re waiting to be perfect. When we have this fear, it flows from our thinking that witnessing is something we say or do, rather than the outflow of God’s love inside of us.
Christianity is about sharing ourselves, warts and all. The more we choose to see ourselves as God does, the less we’ll view our imperfections as hindrances. (No one likes “perfect” people, anyway! They’re annoying.)
God wants to use our messy selves, just as we are. God is perfectly fine with using us while we’re “in process.” He’s just looking for willing people.
If we’re reluctant to witness because we fear we’ll say the wrong thing, or don’t “know all the answers,” we have a limited sense of our usefulness to God. Remember Moses? He couldn’t talk well, but God still used him. And look at Nick Vujicic, who was born without arms and legs. God is using him in a big way! But Nick first had to accept how valuable He is to God, just as he is, before he stepped into his purpose of speaking to millions around the globe.
Don’t make the mistake of telling God that He’ll have to use someone “more skilled or confident” than you. Become useable!
Our 12-Week Journey About Our True Personal Identity!
Part of rightly understanding our true personal identity requires that we know how God sees us. As our loving creator, God says two things to us: “You are my child,” and “You are chosen.” Do you sense God’s heart toward you? Can you wrap you mind around the truth that God was thinking about you before He even created the world?
Let that truth sink into the depth of your heart and mind. It may take a lot of determination on your part, but as you begin to realize just how valuable you are in God’s eyes, you will be able to break the chains that keep you from accepting and loving yourself. Ladies, we CAN drop the burden of what other people think—and the judgments we hold for ourselves!
