“Don’t Check Your Brains At the Door”

As a 7th grade Bible teacher, I have the privilege of working with students each and every day as they grow in their faith, as they ask tough questions and as they deal with tough life issues.
Reading Don’t Check Your Brains at the Door with my students has been a great experience over the past few years.

Students are beginning to see that the world really does challenge Christians and that they need to be prepared to handle it.

Sometimes the students are surprised at what myths are out there about God or Jesus or the resurrection.
They can’t seem to wrap their minds around some of the ideas people have and they will look at me like “Are you kidding me?”- and the answer is “No, I’m not kidding you.”

It is more important than ever in today’s world to know what people have to say about God, about Jesus, and about the Bible so when faced with questions or ridicule students have the ability to intelligently and confidently stand up for their faith.

I’ve loved reading the blogs these students have written throughout the year and to see them strengthen in their ability to defend the true faith.
What I want more than anything else for my students is for them to confidently know what they believe and why they believe it- and for our Lord Almighty to guide them into all truth as they continue to grow in their faith.

Know what you believe…and why you believe it.

• Does it really matter what you believe, as long as you have faith?
• Are there errors in the Bible?
• Was Jesus just a good teacher?
• Can anyone prove His resurrection?
• What does that have to do with me?
