Maddison on “The Killjoy Myth”

Mrs. Clark’s 7th Grade Bible Class Discusses:

The Cosmic Cop

The Killjoy Myth

“Is God a cosmic cop? Is He a police officer who never lets us have any fun?
“God is a cosmic killjoy. The devil is just a guy who wanders the earth trying to make us have fun… All of that is completely wrong!

“In 1 Peter 5:8 days the devil doesn’t care about you… He is not trying to make your life fun, but miserable!

“Also, in John 10:10 it says he roams around stealing, killing, and destroying us. That is the reason we are tempted to believe these myths.
“God is our Heavenly Father for goodness sakes–NOT a buzzkill! He is trying the turn the earth back to himself. He wants us to enjoy earth and our lives on it. All of this says, God is not a cop, killjoy, or buzzkill, but our Creator wants us to learn right from wrong.”

Maddison, age 13

God is the ultimate source of genuine joy and peace.

Do we believe the lie that they can be found anywhere else?

  • Was Jesus just a good teacher?
  • Can anyone prove His resurrection?
  • What does that have to do with me?
