Mrs. Clark’s 7th Grade Bible Class Discusses:

Changing Fact to Fiction

The Myths and Legends Myth

RABBI HEALS A BLIND MAN!
Can you imagine that as a headline in the Galilee daily news? Well, it may seem crazy, but we know it is %100 true!

Honestly, it can sound very shady to a person who isn’t familiar with God or the Bible. The Bible is filled with crazy stories that seem unreal. How can these things be true?

Well, we have eyewitnesses. Obviously they are not alive anymore, but they are recorded in the Bible. Not only just random people, but the Apostles, too. They recorded it themselves.
Most disciples, as we know, are very faithful for what they believe. I’m sure they were also in awe, but they knew He was God’s Son and it was real, not black magic or an illusion.
As referenced in this chapter, Paul said he was not insane.

It may be hard to comprehend, but we just need to remember that it wasn’t just Jesus, His disciples, and the person being healed, it was thousands of people watching.

Isaiah 41:10 states, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” We must trust Him, it is all true.

Samantha, age 12

This Myth is a rather important one. Anyone who has read the Bible must believe everything in it.
This Myth is about the Bible’s stories being completely false and all myths and legends. This Myth is absolutely false.

Peter says “We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.”

Most of the writers of the Bible are eyewitness accounts with the exception of other eyewitness telling the writers.
The Bible is a very reliable source; more reliable than anything else you will ever read.

Overall, the Bible is all fact and is completely true and honest in every story and tale and in every Holy word.

Reed, age 12

“Unlike the myths, legends, and mystery religions of the ancient world, the events recorded in the Bible were ‘not done in a corner.’ A whole bunch of people saw them as they happened.”

Know what you believe…and why you believe it.

Don’t Check Your Brains at the Door gives teens answers that make sense, even for the toughest of questions:
  • Does it really matter what you believe, as long as you have faith?
  • Are there errors in the Bible?
  • Was Jesus just a good teacher?
  • Can anyone prove His resurrection?
  • What does that have to do with me?
Using clarity and humor Josh McDowell and co-author Bob Hostetler expose common myths about God, the Bible, religion, and life to show how Christianity stands up to the test of fact and reason.
With these solid evidences teens will be better understand the faith they live and know what they believe and why.
